NEXUS WORCESTER OFFICE CONTINUES TO GROW; MOVING TO NEW MULTI-USE OFFICE
Jesse Mayo seized the opportunity to buy a Nexus Property Management® franchise back in the summer of 2020 and he’s never looked back. Two years later, his Worcester, Massachusetts office is managing over 140 units and continues to grow steadily. The crowning achievement of that growth is the recent purchase of a new mixed use office up in the Greendale section of town, just north of downtown. As Jesse’s successes continue to spread, so do the number of clients who have the opportunity to benefit from the Nexus Property Management® model.
AN UNEXPECTED 5 YEAR PLAN
Over 5 years ago, Mayo contacted Nexus’ Pawtucket office because he was interested in learning more about real estate investment and was trying to decide whether or not to dip his toe into a world that was foreign from his previous experiences. He’d been interested in real estate as a form of investment but didn’t know how to break in. He ultimately decided to buy a rental property with Nexus and before he knew it he owned three investment properties and was hooked on the opportunity he’d found.
In Jesse’s own words, “I can’t believe someone didn’t come up with this business model earlier…help people find good deals and then help them find good people.” Apparently, that model was so attractive that Mayo moved up and instead of buying more properties, decided to buy a franchise where he could fully exercise that model himself. By December 2021, his office hit the 100 unit marker, after just 18 months in operation, with historically unprecedented conditions proving no match for his abilities and enthusiasm.

NEXUS’ OFFICE GROWTH
The Worcester office has been at 16 Austin Street since it opened in 2020. It is now located in a multi-use office at 859 West Boylston Street. The building includes the office, storage, and multiple apartments, which predictably, Nexus will be managing [LEARN MORE: WHY TENANTS PREFER PROFESSIONALLY MANAGED APARTMENTS]. Mayo shared that by chance, this building had the exact layout he was looking for and the location could not be more perfect as he welcomes more and more clients from the Fitchburg and Leominster area.
Mayo’s move to a bigger and better location is not unprecedented in Nexus’ history. The original Pawtucket office began at a modest 300 square foot location that was chosen primarily with price in mind. By 2017, that office, along with Nexus’ franchise headquarters, had moved to a 60,000 square foot historic mill building at the heart of downtown Pawtucket.
A major difference in Mayo’s upgrade is that his new office is further from the hustle and bustle of downtown, which will allow for quicker response times (and less traffic-related headaches) for his team. Much like that move five years ago, Mayo’s recent relocation symbolizes more than just a physical upgrade. Nexus Property Management® has solidified itself as a part of Worcester’s revitalization. The purchase of the new West Boylston Street location, close to the major intersection with Mountain Street, cements the company as it continues to grow into the fabric of the City of the Seven Hills.

WHERE’S THE NEXT OFFICE?
Nexus’ franchise model includes best practices that are universally applicable, but the company’s birth in mill cities around New England makes it especially strong in areas with infrastructure built for the industrial age that once dominated the region. Areas along the Blackstone River, where American textiles were born, and cities along Connecticut’s major rivers are ideal locations for the next office. The area is also ripe with established seaport towns like the two listed below:
FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS
Nexus’ Fall River office will be under new management and at a new location and is set to open by the summer of 2023. Fall River and New Bedford combined boast a population of almost 200,000 people, many of whom reside in rental properties.
NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT
Nexus’ franchise sales team has identified New Haven as an ideal location for the next Nexus franchise. The Connecticut city boasts a population of over 130,000. With the densely populated Naugatuck Valley just north of New Haven, the combined area is comparable to Worcester and a franchisee there could be set up for similar results to what Mayo has enjoyed in his first two years in central Mass.
